A service technician, or skilled service worker, is responsible for providing technical repair and service work for a variety of equipment and systems. Their responsibilities can include:
- Installation: Installing and testing products
- Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance and preventive maintenance
- Repair: Diagnosing problems and repairing equipment and replacing parts
- Troubleshooting: Troubleshooting mechanical problems and breakdowns
- Customer support: Educating clients on how to use and maintain their device, answering telephone inquiries, and building relationships with customers
- Documentation: Keeping detailed records and documents of an organization’s equipment and producing timely service reports
